Strange pop up's, no icons, no start menu help:(

About a week ago my computer stopped showing my icons and start menu (only
the background) though I could run things from ctrl-alt-delete task manager.
To my surprise after leaving my computer off for a week I turned it on and
was playing with the task manager and my icons and start menu magically
appeared! However, now I get these pop-up's that lead me to this website
http://www.updatepatch.info
the last time I got these pop-up's my computer shut down and didn't show any
icons or start menu. Another pop-up I get is for something called Winfixer
that says windows has a virus...
Are there any repair things I can do?Any information would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks,
Sky

Sky,

The easy answer is to scan your computer with Microsoft Anti-Spyware or any
other reputable antispyware program. Download it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en.Ad-aware also has a free anti-spy scanner at:http://www.lavasoft.nu/software/adaware/ .Also run a virus scan if you have one. If not: try this one: http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.htmlThose are the first things you should do & will probably fix your problem.Drew"Sky" <[email protected]> wrote in messageAbout a week ago my computer stopped showing my icons and start menu (only> the background) though I could run things from ctrl-alt-delete taskmanager.> To my surprise after leaving my computer off for a week I turned it on and> was playing with the task manager and my icons and start menu magically> appeared!
