I currently have a 2000 exchange server and a number of
workstations on Windows XP and Outlook XP

My problem is that users will be sent new email, but
outlook will not receive the mail or put out a new mail
notification, until the user click on Calendar, sent
items, deleted items or opens another email.

Its almost as if the exchange server wont push down the
emails unless the client reconnect to the exchange itself.

Not every computer is doing this but the number seems to
be increasing and it is becoming troublesome.

If I use Outlook Web Access the new mail will come
through automatically with out delay.

I know other have has this problem and i have heard for a
fix for the exchange and the work stations. Through i
cant seem to find either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm having this same Exact problem with a single user of ours
connecting to our Exchange 5.5sp4 server with an Outlook 2000 client.

Anybody know where to begin troubleshooting this?

Thanks for the reply but there is no NAT or firewall on
the network.

I have seen the support notes about this issue but they
are no help.

If there was something on the network blocking the UDP
ports then all my clients would have this problem but it
is only a hand full, and there is no client based
firewalls in place.

I cant seem to find any other ideas they may help.

It sounds as if UDP traffic is not getting where it needs to go.

Do you use Network Address Translation on your LAN?
