strange networking problem

I have a weird Vista networking problem. My LAN card no longer speaks
to my router. This is a dual boot laptop, and the connection works
perfectly on Linux.

It's specific to the wired connection, too - the built-in wireless
card works fine.

I went through TCP/IP properties for the card and they are fine.
'route print' shows 'media disconnected', which makes no sense (plus,
i double-checked).

Has anyone seen this behavior? How does one fix it?

TIA -

Open a terminal session and type:

ipconfig /all

Should point you in the right direction....pay attention to DHCP DNS and
gateway values
