Strange network connections

Greg

Im running a 56k on 1 computer, and shared the connection
with another computer. (Both win XP) This has worked
fine for a long time. Than the computer (the one
connecting over the the network) suddenly couldnt surf the
web. Programs such as MSN Messenger/AOL Still work, but
when i try to use IE, i comes up to the error page. When
i check all my connections, it shows the connection
as "disconnected" This is really wierd, if anyone has any
suggestions, (OTHER THAN A GD SYSTEM RESTORE) please post!

I think I resolved this the other day for a customer.
Take a close look at the error page how offical does it
appear. The error page I saw was phony. I cleared the
history list and deleted all the cookies and was
immediately able to surf the net. Somehow this phony page
got set as the default page so every time you fired up IE
you got a message that appeared to be an error. Are you
running the latest patches for IE? I would suggest that
you try running spybot too. If AOL and MSN messengers
still work there is nothing work with your connection to
the Interent it must be in your browser.
