Strange Mouse/Keyboard issue

Ok, I have a workstation (Dell Dimension 9150) that I've set up with XP Pro
and some development tools (Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, etc.). Everything
was working fine for the last few days. Then today I accidentally held the
shift key down for a few seconds and the StickyKeys dialog popped up. Ok, no
problem, it's happened many times before. So I go into the accessibility
options and turn off all the shortcuts and make sure all the options are
disabled.

That normally takes care of it. This time however, things got weird. Now
the insert key is pasting whatever is in the clipboard whenever I hit it, and
the mouse is acting like I have the shift key held down permanently. It only
wants to highlight blocks of text. You know, like when you position the
cursor and then hold shift and click farther down and it highlights the block
for you? Well it seems to be stuck now and i can't change the cursor
position really, all I can do is click around to change the amount of text
that gets highlighted.

Here's what I've tried so far:
Rebooting (several times).
Enabling and disabling the accessibility options.
Checked mouse options to make sure that clicklock was off.
Unplugging and replugging the mouse (usb ball mouse).
Switching to a different mouse.

Anyone got any other ideas I could try aside from wiping and reloading?

Thanks!

Looks like your Shift key is stuck (that's why Insert pastes clipboard contents
because Shift+Insert=Ctrl+V)
Unplug the keyboard then reboot the PC. If it doens't happen then replace keyboard.
