Strange little "grid" pic

This is for my sister who is not very computer literate who is in Florida. I
am in PA trying to help her. I know that her Word is not version 2003 but
older than that. Not sure which one. She says after "messing around with
things" she now has a small yellow, what appears to be a grid shaped item
next to her cursor whenever she goes into Word (new document). What did she
do and how do we turn it off? Help Please....

Have her do a file search and locate Normal.dot. Once its found, delete it
and reopen Word. Word will regenerate the Normal.dot template with the
application defaults. See if this doesn't correct the problem.
