Strange Intellimouse Explorer behaviour

J

John

I use an Intellimouse Explorer on a USB port. Was having
trouble with using the left button to grab window focus
(having to use Alt-Tab on the Keyboard instead).
Installed Intellipoint 5 which seems to have mainly fixed
the focus issue but now Excel is unusuable because its as
if I'm holding down the left button all the time. Have to
kill it by right clicking on the Start bar and closing.

Left click behaviour is clearly corrupt and worse in some
programs than others. Even in Word and Explorer if I hold
left click to select text I usually (note not always)
have to click again to say copy or replace the selected
text.

And its not REPEAT not the hardware as I've tried another
mouse and get the same behaviour.

Windows XP is up to date, Mouse software is latest,
Office is Office 2000.

Have trawled the knowledge base but can't find anything.
Have tried removing the drivers but that's easier said
than done without a mouse. And in any event which driver
is it ?

Please help, its driving (no pun intended) me mad.

John.

The scroll lock is probably toggled. On my keyboard it is under the Num
Lock key.

Thanks for replying but No its not the scroll lock !

I suspect its a driver corruption. AND I'm using ALL
Microsoft software, I'll simply go out and buy someone
else's mouse load their drivers and see if the problem
fixes itself. Unless anyone has any better ideas.
