I have an Icon that shows up with at various times in my task bar. There
seems to be no rhymn or reason to it. Its a white moon shape, sort of with a
small dot in the upper right side. If I left or right click nothing happens.
I can't open it, check for properties, ect. It seems to serve no purpose.
I've run nortons, various spyware programs and my computer comes up clean.
The only way to remove the icon is to reboot. Has anyone heard of/seen? How
do I rid myself of this mystery dot?

thanks,

Detective work - First start by examining the Startup & Watchdogs
that run on your PC. These are generally the icons that appear in the
System Tray (by Time Display). This icon could also be some type
of Autoupdater of an application on your PC.
You can use MSConfig.Exe and click the Startup (TAB) to see a
listing of the startups. It may also be necessary to use TaskMgr or
SysInternals Process Explorer to locate the process or executable
that is responsible for the erratically appearing icon.
