strange hard disk space problem

I have a 180G hard disk running windows xp running sp1 with no
partitions except the one running windows formatted NTFS.
When I go to my hard disk properties, it reports that i have 70G used,
50G free. Disk Management under administrative tools reported that I
had 40G unallocated so I extended it to the full 180 under command.
Now, the BIOS, Disk Management, and Partition Magic 8 all report my
full disk is there, but when I go to properties in windows OR
partition magic the used and free only add up to 120G.
I contacted the MB company and they told me I should be ok for up to
250G.
What is going on here and how do I resolve it? PLEASE HELP!!!

This article describes the Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) 48-bit Logical
Block Addressing (LBA) support for ATA Packet Interface (ATAPI) disk drives
that can enable the capacity of your hard disk to exceed the current 137
gigabyte (GB) limit.

Where can I find Sysprep.inf ? Did a file search with hidden folder
search enabled and I can't find it. Will I lose everything on my hard
drive by doing this?

I suggest downloading the SP1 to avoid any possible corruption from registry
changes.
