Strange folder in Documents and Settings

I have a strange folder showing up on my Documents and
Settings on some of my Win2K servers and Win2K
workstations. It is a folder with 3 square boxes beneath
(where the user name would be). I have never seen this
before or heard of it. The folder is a user folder but
has nothing in it. It does not show up in SYSTEM
PROPERTIES>USER PROFILES.

I have run several virus scans with no viruses found.
These systems are also updated with the latest critical
updates and Win2K SP3.

Any info is always a help.

The name contains a control character. I have a file with a single
square in WINNT. It's an empty file (as per hex editor). I decided to
leave in case it is needed by a copy-protected program in order to
run.
