Strange Folders after updates

D

Dave

After upgrading from EI6 to IE7, and from SP2 to SP3, I find a few
new/strange folders under Documents and Settings/Dave (that's me):

One is 'MSOCache' which contains an All Users which contains 7 cab files -
should this be here?

and

the other is 'e9d7e597faddf9862da3' which contains 114 objects and an Update
folder which contains another 14 objects. Some of the 114 files are
ieexplore.exe (showing the IE7 icon), spuninst.exe, and many dll files among
others. Could these be the IE7 update files - and should they be here?

Thx
Dave

the mso folder is important to
keep because it should have all
the files needed to install or
repair msoffice, ie, mso

however, you can delete the folder
just be sure to have your office cd/dvd
handy if you need to repair office in
the future.

the other folders with the numerical
sequences are installation folders
created to store setup files during
installations.

you can delete them at will.

you're welcome.

--------------------

well, if you have the cd in hand
you can delete the mso folder.

if you use the cd in the future like
to repair office, then the mso file
will be recreated at the time.

the mso is simply a convenience
where as you can stash your cd
in a safe place and the system
will instead rely on the mso
folder for future events.
