strange "~" file just appears

Has anyone ever had a file that just appears on their
desktop or documents that is simply a "~" (no quotation
marks)? It happens every so often on my machine. I've
never found a virus, so I'm wondering what this could be.

Hi Jason

The ~(Tilde) phenomenon is a bug in Outlook Express and is a copy of the Address Book after it has been updated. You can delete it without any problems.

Relax, it's not a virus it's an OE bug. Sometimes OE makes a copy of
your address book and forgets to delete it. You can delete it
yourself, but it will eventually come back.
