Strange desktop file appears by itself

Every couple of weeks or so, I get a strange file appearing on my desktop.
It has no file extension and has the name "~" without the inverted commas.

If I add the .txt extension and open the file, it contains all my address
book contents.

I have checked my computer for viruses using Pc-cillin with the latest
updates, but all is okay. Ad-Aware does not indicate anything unusual on the
machine.

I can't discover what I'm doing to cause this file to be created, but it
seems to appear around the time of shutdown, and I notice it when I restart.

Does anyone know what could is causing this file to appear.

It's a bug that MS has yet to fix, just delete the file.
