Strange file appears on the desktop

I thought I had posted this a few minutes ago. If so, I
apologize for the double post.

A file with the name "~" (just a tilde, no extension) shows
up on my desktop occasionally. When I open it in notepad,
it appears to be a binary file that seems to contain some
address book information. It is about 1.5 meg in size.

I just now scanned my disk and found 4 more files of the
same name in various folders and various dates. The newest
is dated 4 days ago.

I have erased these in the past and nothing has complained
or failed to run.

Can someone shed some light on what this is?

It is actually a copy of your address book. There is a bug with oe and the
address book that creates this file, just ignore and delete.
