Strange event log problem

I have a customer who has their event log set to "Overwrite events as
needed" yet the log still complains about being full. How can this be?

I did see this on XP some time ago where the setting would not stick,
however, that does not seem to be the case here.

Any thoughts?

Maybe the client's hard disk has less free space
than the minimum amount required by the Event Logger?
 
Yeah, I checked that and they have gigs of space. Thanks for the reply.
