Strange error box on boot up

When I reboot my system and after the Windows XP load screen but before the
blue splash screen I get this Strange box on my screen. You can see it on
www.spnelson.com, It will hang until I click OK. Does anybody know what it
is and how I can fix it?

Thanks

Too blurry to be able to see what it is. From the poor
image it appears to be some type of windows menu screen but
can't make out the image. What happens when you start in
safe mode? What programs are in your startup (msconfig)
that may also be causing this?

It might be a botched attempt at setting the logon dialog "notice". Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system

Look in the right pane for "legalnoticecaption" and "legalnoticetext". If they exist, double click them, and set their contents to nothing (blank).

Thank you both for your suggestions but no luck so far. Used the regedit to
check for those items but did not have them. I have updated the items on
www.spnelson.com but still can not get a good picture of the "strange box".
Once an awhile it will have in it a bunch of strange symbols and the
C:\windows\system32 and then a dll file. It is not the same dll file each
time.

Thanks.

I've got the same problem here. My wife told me she tried to use a
SD-card, than suddenly the system locked up. Afterwards she told me she
had noticed ad-watch reporting a series of registry changes. She had no
idea where they came from. Than all my desktop-icons turned into .lnk
files, and since than i am trying to figure out what is the cause: i've
tried several restore points, lost system tray icons which i can't get
bacl (have been googling for hours and all tips have not helped me, no,
not even the universal pnp etc), and i have this weird almost empty
window where i have to click ok and which contains seemingly random
characters...

I too am having the same message - "Loading PBR for Descriptor 2 ...Done".
I cannot get the bootup to complete. I cannot get beyond this message.
Does anyone know how to get beyond this message so that the boot completes?

http://google.com

Type in that phrase, then check out the many references to it.
