I have an Epson Stylus Photo 960 printer that I need to store for an
extended period of time.

If I just remove the ink cartridges and pack it away carefully, will that be
good enoufg or do I need to do anything else?

TIA

DON'T REMOVE THE INK CARTRIDGES!

....the lines will dry out.

A weak ammonia solution is good for cleaning the printheads. Not sure if it
may help to soak the resting pads/caps where the printhead sits when not in
use.

Don't remove the cartridges. The printer will be junk for sure.

DO make sure that the carriage is parked all the way to the right. Do this
by pushing it the rest of the way over manually. I'd then tape it with
packing tape to ensure it doesn't migrate to the left during handling /
shipping / etc.

That's all you can do AFAIK.

Store it flat so that any ink in the drip tray does not wonder all over
the place
Been there don that

As mentioned, do not remove the ink cartridges. All that will accomplish is
allowing air into the printhead to dry out the remaining ink causing a head
clog.
Strange as this sounds place the printer in a plastic trash bag, take a
moist sponge and place it in the bag, remove as much air as possible and tie
the bag with a twist tie. Try to avoid leaving the printer for more than six
months or you'll still be wondering where that head clog came from.
