I have quite a few phone numbers on my cordless phone. Is there a program
that I can use to store them on my computer in case I need to re-enter them
to the phone, or a new phone? I really don't want to have to re-enter all of
them.

There are tons of such programs. I assume you don't mean for a cell
phone? You might want to expand your search to also include Address
Contacts, PIM other similar keywords, since they typically come in the
same freeware. So, assuming you just want a phone book directory for
your Windows PC [you'll need to specify XP, Win9x etc.], you might also
want a proggie from which you can dial as well, ie, via your PC's modem
[assuming you have one].

You'll find some good stuff here:

Also, here's a sample Google search:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=phone+contacts+PIM+freeware+dial&btnG=Search

which will search for "phone" "contacts" "PIM" "freeware" and "dial"

Modify as you need.

One prog I can highly recommend [don't think it dials, tho] is
EssentialPIM.

Go to the download page and look for the freeware version.

The dl page:

will show you the basic differences between the freeware & shareware
versions.

Another program is PhoneDeck, which also dials.
It's from the maker of KeyNote, an *excellent* notepad, text editor,
info mgr etc.

Here's the blurb:
PhoneDeck aims to be a reasonably featureful address book program, but
is not meant to replace a large PIM-type application. It is designed
for personal use and may not be suitable for heavy-duty address
management in a business environment.

Another is Time&Chaos, more on the order of a PIM, notes manager,
contacts, etc. but it does also dial. [Older vers recently became
freeware.]

Freew vers is toward the bottom of the page.

There's also
MyPhonebook Dialer

To me, it looks a bit clunky, but....

These are just a few suggestions.
Remember, too, to look at export capabilities from whatever programs
you test, ensuring that they'll output in a standard format that other
programs can easily import [eg, CSV, tabbed, DBF, etc.]

Finally, remember that if you're on Win XP some dialing functionality
is built into your system, which some of these products will use.

Thanks Kittie S, but I didn't mean PIMs , I want a program that
automatically downloads the numbers into a database, then would also be able
to upload to my cordless phone if I needed to replace incase of memory loss,
etc.

Check the Web page for your wireless provider. I know with T-Mobile I
can enter a number on my computer and download it to my phone. There
may be storage options on the Web page--I've never had occasion to
check. I think it would be worth checking out.

If you had a cordless phone with upload capabilities I am sure the
instruction manual would tell you so and how to do it. I don't think an
everyday cordless model would have such capabilities.
