Is there a quick way to cancel a print job once it has started.

Right Click > Cancel
or
Printer > Cancel all Documents
or
Services > Print spooler > restart

just don't work

I can select pause printing and switch off the printer supply but then I
can't use the printer again.

It depends on the printer and OS. HP's DeskJet's since the 9XX series have had
a print cancel button the printer (the X button) to cancel print jobs. For
other models of printers Windows XP has finally done a reasonable job of making
it possible to cancel all print jobs or delete single jobs correctly. For Win
200 or Win 98 you may have luck in first pausing the print job, then deleting
it.

Thanks for the advice Bob,

I am running WinXP home edition and the main printers are an Epson Stylus
Photo 750 and a Lexmark X75
Malcolm.

For the Lexmark, click the Cancel button in the Progress box (usually
appears bottom right of screen). Click Yes to confirm and printing will
stop.

On recent HP DeskJet's press the cancel button on the printer (the X button).
