Stopping/Killing a Stalled Service

If a service fails to start properly and gets "stuck" in the Starting
condition, is there a way to stop the service so that it and its associated
service application can be removed and replaced without having to have it
"marked for deletion" and then restart the server?

End Process in Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc).

99% of the time task manager will not terminate a service
you would need something like the kill utility which i've used from the NT
resource kit
