Basically we've been having problems connecting to our server from
remote desktop etc. Checked the services and as far as we can tell, the
only problem is that Terminal Services is stuck on Starting..

if i right click on the service, i cant restart/start/stop or anything
at all.. Any ideas how we can fix this? tried rebooting the server and
had the same problem

Thanks everyone

Are any errors showing in the Event Log? Does the Terminal Service have
any dependencies set on it? Sometimes services can get stuck in a
startup state because improper dependencies are set or because proper
dependencies are not started.

Its got no dependancies, ive just checked.

Yesterday when i tried to restart the service (disabled it and
restarted the server, i got this message)

Could not start the Terminal Services service on Local Computer

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request
in a timely fashion.

and then it just hung(starting) again.

The event viewer shows this repeating error:
The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication
from SERVER1 to SERVER2 for c:\winnt\sysvol\domain using the DNS name
SERVER1.ourhost.com. FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning.

[1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name SERVER1.ourhost.com
from this computer.
[2] FRS is not running on SERVER1.ourhost.com.
[3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica
has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.

This event log message will appear once per connection, After the
problem is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that
the connection has been established.

Any ideas please? Running out of ideas
