Using Windows XP Pro.

After installing Norton Systemworks Pro 2004, two folders open at startup every time. I wish this
NOT to happen.

Both folders apply to folders under Program Files\Symantic. Also, when they open, the folder icons
in the task bar are bright orange.

I have talked to Symantec Support but they blow it off.

If anyone has a clue as to why this happening in the first place, please share it with me!

I believe that there must be a place in the Windows Registry to inhibit the folders opening. Where
and What do I look for? I do know how to backup and "Regedit"

TIA Dennis

uninstall the program completel

go back to program files and delete the symantic folder... this deletes any backups for future install

reinstall the progra

then click on the ''options'' tab and select each sectio

uncheck any splash screens that would come u

this might help... i did this to solve the same problem...good luck

start menu...............
also click star
click program
click startu

right click on the items which appear to be folders in the startup... right click and delet

also type msconfig and see if these dolders are in the start men

Thanks for your time!

What causes the Explorer folders to come up? Is it an entry in the Registry and/or is it loading a
start-up file that should have been deleted after the install? Where can startup files exist?

TIA Dennis

Most likely an entry that you will find if you run MSConfig.exe (from
Start - Run) and look on the startup page. You can uncheck things there
- Exit - do not bother to reboot, but next time you do there will be a
message about 'System Configuration'. Check the 'Do not show again' box
and exit

A folder opening often means that there is a program that has a space in
the name, and the reference has not been enclosed in quotes - so things
assume the object looked for was the one ending at the space
