I installed messenger 5 on my network and don't want it to update itself
when new ver comes out... I put in the regkey

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MessengerService]
"Upgrade"=hex:01,00,00,00

on all the clents but they still seam to be updateing... I installed
5.0.0468 and now a lot of them are 5.0.0482 is there another key that needs
to be set?

thanks

Greetings Jon,

The key you added actually hasn't been used since Messenger 3.x. The proper keys to stop
this behavior now are:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MessengerService\Policies]
"DisableUpdates"=dword:00000001
"PreventAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001
