Stop routing internet traffic over VPN

When I establish a VPN connection to a w2k box, I'm assigned a DG and DNS
which means that my local box is now using the VPN connection for internet
access and its slowing everything down, how do I disable this?, I would like
for the 2k box to route LAN traffic only not internet traffic.

You can clear the "use default gateway .. " box in the client's
connection settings to prevent changing the default route. See MS KB 254231.
The KB refers to RAS but the same applies to the VPN connectoid.
