Stop Program From Loading?

D

Dan Rather

Hello,

My operating system is Windows Me. I am trying to stop internat.exe
from running when I start IE. I can't seem to find an entry for it in
msconfig or my registry. I can't even find an entry using Mike Lin's
StartUp Control Panel or the StartUp Inspector program. Is there a
process viewer or program that can bar this program from running? Not
just stop it once but any time it tries to load itself? Any help would
be gratefully appreciated.

Spybot Search & Destroy offers excellent control of start-up files.

There are other such programs as well, and this newsgroup will inform you.

What happens if you rename it ( internat.exe.noload for example ) ?

Diable any international keyboards in your windows set up... the
program won't be loaded then ('cause that it the app. that gives you
the opportunity to switch between keyboards (eg. Dutch and English).)

If you rename the file, it just returns. I am using Spybot Search and
Destroy. I will see if the program can help me out.

Thanks!

It may be me, but "Internat.exe" is a legit process, which can be
stopped from appearing pemanently quite easily without any process
vriewer / killer, so why go through the extra troubles (you have to do
that after every reboot) when you can have it much easier? Just
wondering...

Hello,

I have only 1 language installed for my keyboard and that is English.
There is no way to remove it or any changes that can be made. I guess
this internat.exe is just going to run.

Hi Dan,

If you go to the "keyboard" properties, does it look like the " show
icon in system tray" is checked?

It also happens BTW if you installed a second keyboard driver, eg US
English International, for special chars (like e), so a different
language is not necessary, just a different (extra) keyboard driver is
enough, my bad that I wasn't more clear on this...

Thanks for your help Mr. Hazeleger. The option to show the icon in my
taskbar is grayed out. I have a HID-Compliant Keyboard driver and
Satndard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard driver listed under
the keyboard entry in Device Manager.

You might try Autoruns. It shows more stuff than your usual startup
monitor, and it allows you to deselect them.

---
This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting
locations of any startup monitor (A starting list of auto-run locations
was obtained from David Solomon's "Windows Internals" seminar), shows you
what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and
shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs
include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry
keys. A "show non-Microsoft only" option helps you to zoom in on third-
party auto-starting images that have been added to your system. You'll
probably be surprised at how many executables are launched automatically!

Autoruns works on all versions of Windows.
