Ok I have tried EVERYTHING for and answer for this I have even written my
own testing application to debug the issue... Heres my dilemma
I have recently installed 512Mb DDR RAm and a 120Gb Seagate HD, reinstalled
Windows XP etc...
My system functions fine until I go to scan the file system for Virus Scan,
or to Find Text in a file. When I do this at aabout halfway thru the process
I get either a STOP ERROR 24 or STOP ERROR C5. I have aware that these
errors are Hard Disk related and so I checked the disk with some Seagate
tools...THe was no probs after 10 hours of checking.
So, this prompted me to write my own app to test the HD.
Heres my results.
Scan the file system WITHOUT openning each file :
NO ERRORS
Scan the file system and OPEN then CLOSE each file :
EITHER STOP ERROR 24 or STOP ERROR C5
Details
Stop Error 0x0000024(0x001902fa, 0xf8965910, 0xf8965910,
0xf8402d98)
Stop Error 0x00000C5(0x0000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001,
0x80533f73b)
and the STOP ERROR does not happen on the same file each time thru, although
it does happen in roughly the same time frame...
Can any of you gurus out there give a clue to what is happening.
Cheers
