I'm getting a bluescreen SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
STOP error, with no minidump file being written. STOP (0x000007e, 0xC000005,
etc.) filename
Eww72.sys

The strange thing is that as far as I can tell there is no eww72.sys file on
the system, nor in the registry and Google throws no results for this
filename. The stop only happens once every couple of weeks, which makes
troubleshooting rather difficult. The system is clear of any
virus/trojan/malware, and is one of a number of similar ghosted systems.

Any help in tracking down what the eww72.sys file is would be much
appreciated.

Thanks,
Box

If you can't find the file, then it may be hidden by a rootkit. I've had
good luck using RootkitRevealer to find hidden files. I worked on a system
that had a hidden driver that was causing a BSOD crash.

To clean up the hidden files, I boot off my Windows XP installer disc, use
the Recovery Console, then use the DOS commands to find and delete the
offending file.

Seems like a Hardware problem.I have no idea where the problem
lies. You have to go through the basic troubleshooting process. As i am
no expert in hardware troubleshooting i would recommended you to read
the article by clicking the link below for help.
