Stop error: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DISK

My computer crashed and I have a blue screen with this
stop error: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DISK

It provides instructions to run chkdsk. On restarting, I
can't get into a command prompt to run chkdsk.

The restart sequence does not recognize my win2000
emergency repair disk. I tried a win98 boot disk but I
just get the blue screen again. Nor am I able to boot off
the installation CD.

I do have image backups of my C drive made using Ghost. I
began restoration of the files - 75% of the way through, I
got the blue screen again.

I fear the worst....

Are you saying that you get a blue screen while trying to boot from a
win98 boot floppy? Assuming your floppy is ok, from what you say, you
seem to have a bad hardware problem ... A qualified technician should
have a look at your machine ...
