Hi,
You could try running the processor at a slower speed to see if that allows
the system to start.
I see there is a bios update at
http://www.soyousa.com/downloads/selectresults.php?col2=304
that might help.
I assume you have made sure the processor fan & bonding is correct.
Is the processor correctly detected at 3200+.

Are you installing XP out the box or with or without SP1 or is at a
slipstream with SP2.??

Can't think of anything else off hand.

Hi Neil...
I am installing a copy of xp with sp1.....I have updated the bios with the
latest on the soyo site......The cpu is detected at 3200+ and the fan is
mounted correctly....I'll try slowing down the cpu and see if that helps.
Thanks, James

Niel...You rock....I slowed the cpu down and it let me install the os no
probs....but why would I have to slow it down? it is a 400Mhz fsb cpu...it
should run set at 200 right?
thanks,
James

Yep I think you are right the FSB should be 200M. Did you grab the nettle so
to speak and set the FSB back to 200 once the system was set up.
If it's still a problem at full speed it could be memory, try taking it out
and plugging it back in again. If you have 2 modules use one at a time.
Try the bios set to defaults although I suspect when you updated the bios it
set defaults anyway.

At least you are up and running now.

all the best

Just another thought, is the memory you have the recommended for the Soyo
motherboard. I have read of some compatibility problems that might explain
the symptoms you have.

If it is the recommended one then must be something else.

best of luck
Neil
