When i installed SP1 on my windows xp pro machine last night, rebooted it
after it finished, i get a blue screen saying STOP: c000021a {Fatal System
Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with
a status of 0x00000080 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut
down. Has anyone seen this error and how i should fix it. (tried booting in
safe mode and every other option by pressing F8 and still get the same
screen) is there a way to replace winlogon.exe and crss.exe from another one
of my computers. i cant seem to get acess to the file system to do that. Any
sugestions or ideas will help. Thanks!

i don't see how they expect any of these fixes to work. i cant even get into
windows to do anything. I finally got access to the file system by using a
Linux OS on cd rom (knoppix) but problem is that i can't write/delete
anything to my primary hard disk. I would do an in place install of xp but i
don't have enough disk space to do so. so i'm pretty much stuck i think..lol

Do you have a XP disk that has repair install option ( such as the retail ).
Whether it will repair your problem , I do not know , but the risk is low
and the possibility of retaining your files and setting is possible. You
will need to boot from the XP cd and choose install / repair present
installation. Jym

i'm actally doing that right this min. 30 mins left. Hopefully it'll work!
i've found out doing the repair gets rid of SP1 so i'm confident it'll work.
I'll keep you posted!

You are welcome. btw , Ms has a Security Update cd ( for those of us who do
the procedure that you have just preformed and find out that all the updates
were erased ) , that contains SP-1 and updates to Feb 2004 , free for the
asking. Jym
