STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}

Hello,

I have a windows XP home editon CD that came with my dell
computer. I have been encountering a problem with I am
guessing msgina.dll. Sometimes, when I start my computer,
the logon screen comes up, but then the computer will just
restart. I disabled restart after system error, and got
this message.

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated
unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000
0x0000000)
The system has been shutdown.

I read the article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;156669 and followed the steps but found no solution.

I reformatted the hard drive, and reinstalled windows
fresh off the cd. And I encountered the same problem. I
did not install anything, or use windows update. If anyone
knows anything that might remedy my situation, please
respond. I have tried installing SP1+2, but it doesnt even
let me get to the login screen without the system
restarting. It seems odd to me because it was off a fresh
install off an OEM cd.

Im pretty knowledgeable, A+ certified, but I am not
getting what is wrong with this.

Thank you much, in advance to anyone who can help

same problem here after installing windows xp sp2:

blue screen
"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
status 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x0000000)"

if i switch ON "automatically restart on system failure" i have a boot
cycle: the box continuously reboots in an endless loop.

i have an athlon64 / amd64.

when searching the web and usenet i found some topics:

1.) references related to the "data execution prevention" (DEP).
you're supposed to adjust the boot.ini to "/noexecute=alwaysoff". this
should disable DEP in general.

2.) the other one covers the "mpegport.sys", in particular.

3.) a third one suspects some umax scan drivers of being guilty.

however, none of the described workarounds fixed the problem.

any help wanted, desperately!

thanks, philipp

Did you ever get this issue resolved? - I have the same error status on an
Inspiron 8500 laptop and Dell says the hard disk is bad but I dont believe
it. Please reply to my new e-mail address (e-mail address removed) instead of the
one Im registered with.
