STOP: C000021a {Fatal System Error}

Hello.

My machine is crashing once a day or so, and much more often when I'm using
the CD/DVD Drive.

I received the following message when I tried to reboot (it can take
numerous tries to get the machine up and running again.):

"STOP: C000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a
staus of 0x00000402 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down."

Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Mobile AMD Athlon(tm)XP 2500+

Does anyone have any ideas how I can resolve this problem??

I used to get that message on startup and after a scan disk after I upgraded
the dvd burner and hard drive on my XP pro OEM laptop. OEM XP has hardware
serial numbers and when one of them changes it can cause problems.

I got a xp pro upgrade cd and did a repair install and no more 000021a
messages.
