STOP 0x7E error in usbhub.sys

Günter Wirth

Hallo,

We have the problem that the bug STOP: 0x7E (0xC0000005, x, x, x) appears on
our system,
after removing or plugging a USB memory stick.

I found an article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (ID 327863), that this
bug is known.

Has anybody a solution or update?
We use SP1, was this bug fixed in SP2?

Regards,
Günter

Günter,

I have not seen this problem. Have you tried updating to latest USB related
QFE?
What QFE do you use?

Regards,
Slobodan

Günter,

This QFE for XPe should fix the problem on SP1:

Quote:

Microsoft has released an update for the USB drivers included in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) that addresses the following
issues:

Plug and Play

- Your computer may automatically restart, or you may receive a serious error (STOP 0x0000007E in Usbhub.sys) when you use the
Safely Remove Hardware utility, and then immediately remove a USB storage device that is connected directly to your computer.
