STOP: 0x0000008E installing on Dell D800 laptop

While attempting to install one of the most recent builds of Vista on my Dell
D800 laptop, a STOP: 0x0000008E error occurs as soon as the expanding files
portion has completed.

This laptop was running WinXP prior w/o issue, prior to attempting to
install Vista (primary partition was formatted).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

What build are you attempting to install? Also are you attempting to install
from a DVD or using a DVD emulator?

With XP that error during an install was often a sign of bad RAM. If the DVD
was one you burnt it could also be a bad burn. That is a very common problem
with Vista installs. Try testing the ram and also re-burning the DVD at the
slowest speed your drive supports.
