Brand New WinXP Dell D800 LOCKS UP on Network Links

Hello All,

I have a brand new dell d800 latitude.... I am working on making it my
primary machine.... but, lately I have run into some major concerns....

I have some network drives that were mapped by IP and by NAME .... the
machine travels in and out of work with me.. . so, sometimes those drives are
not available....

anyways... If I start up my laptop and go into WORD and hit OPEN and then
hit the DROP DOWN box to list my folders.... it would hesitate... (on my old
machine it seemed to search for those NON-existent network drives.. then
eventually timeout and then the drop down box would pop open) ... and after a
little time my mouse stops moving and that is it... my laptop is completely
locked up... the clock never changes... etc.... so, any ideas???

Brand new? Return it to the vendor.
