STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR for XP Home Ed.

I have XP Home Ed. It crashed at boot up
with the error of

STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR

The microsoft site has the article about this error
but is for Win2K. How do I fix this problem for
XP Home Ed. ?

I tried all the safe boot modes but it still crashes.

If there is no contra-indicated advice for XP, win2K articles often
apply to XP. In your case, I would press F8 after the BIOS screen at
boot and select "Last Known Good" configuration and see if you can boot
that. If so, your system will be back where it was the last time it
successfully completed booting.
