Still no audio

Well, I am at my wits end. I can capture the video from my VCR, camcorder,
and digital DVD player just fine on Movie Maker. But still no audio from
either source. None...nada. And I have gone to every computer audio
adjustment that I know of. Let me present the situation: my RCA plugs are on
the TV tuner part of my computer. Would this matter? (there are no others so
I assumer these must be the ones) My computer lists about 15-20 audio codecs.
All are enabled. The process of turning this one off or that one off,
restarting the computer etc. could be endless in its combinations. And my
computer is off the shelf just six weeks ago...a Gateway GM
5076E...Supposedly fully loaded. After trying to download updated codecs
packages from Microsoft I am informed that I have the most recent. Beats me.
Any, and I mean any, logical advice?

Hey Starman,

I had the same experience with RCA cables too.
I finally had to switch to using a firewire cable that I purchased from Best
Buy.
It works perfectly now.

If you do not have firewire interface on your PC, maybe (not sure) a USB2
interface can do.

Sorry I didn't get back to you in your original post. What type/brand of
capture card are you using?

In WMM, 1st screen after clicking on Capture from video device, what audio
device and audio input source is selected. If it does not refer to your tv
tuner, you need to change it to that device unless specific instructions
included told you not to. The input level needs to be adjusted to about the
mid-range also. If there is no input source that works with the tv card,
you need to get RCA to mini-phono cable which will take your red & white RCA
outputs to a mini phono plug for your sound card input then adjust settings
to the internal sound card. I use an ATI AIW which requires me to plug in a
cable from the capture card into the sound card after plugging in the RCA
cables from the output device. If yours is similar, have you done so?

Thanks, jb & LV,

I will try both remedies. LV, concerning the audio source I am using the
only one listed...only one for video & audio. No, LV, all my RCA are in the
tuner card, but a pigtial for the red & white cables to a female green end
came with my computer. (i hope that made sense) I guess I can try and use
that at the sound card. I will see. I sure do appreciate you guys responding
with this new advice. Thanks.

Hey Hey!!

I'm healed. I hooked my audio through the Line In on my sound card. It
works! I believe LV recommended this. Thanks Guys!!!

Yep! What happens is that the "TV" card needs to send the audio signal to
the audio processor (the sound card) and that pigtail with the green end
goes to the sound card. If you have a desktop the microphone or aux in on
the sound card is normally shaded green also.

Glad you got it sorted out.
