Still having video playback problems

C

Christopher Vitek

I went out and got a new video card (ATI 9200 Radeon, 128MB Ram). However,
I am still having problems playing any video. These are any types of
video - streaming, downloaded from website, transferred from video camera,
etc. I haven't tried playing a DVD player. The video will play for up to 1
and a half minutes (usually between 30 seconds and 1 minutes) and then the
computer will freeze. Not responsive at all, it requires the reset button
to reboot.

Some specs

Asus A7N8X-X motherboard, latest Nvidia drivers (built in ethernet and
sound)
ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB AGB 8X video card
AMD 2200 Processor, running at about 1800Mhz.
120 GB Western Digital hard drive
Direct X 9B
768 MB DDR Ram (Crucial brand, PC3200, running at 266Mhz)
1 PCI USB/Firewire combo card

Memory has been tested, and no errors found. I will be happy to post any
specs or test results (so long as people tell me how to run the test). This
is getting to be very tiresome!! I even tried paying for Microsoft Tech
support, but they had a problem on their website and wouldn't accept my
credit card!!

ANY AND ALL HELP is appreciated.

Chris, I have a vague memory of something about Asus m/bs and ATI cards
needing a patch. This is very vague, so I can't point you to anything
specific. I'm going to suggest you check out the forums on
www.amdmb.com for further help. Here's a direct link to the forums:

http://forums.amdmb.com/

There are *lots* of them - in particular, there are forums for Asus
motherboards and video hardware. I really don't think your problem is
an XP issue, so try AMDMB.

Good luck,

Malke
