Still having problem w explorer

Mostly it seems to be *.avi files but not all avi. I have tried all
suggestions found here but it dont help. If I wash a avi file with a
converter it no longer cause any problem with Explorer.
The avi files that cause explorer to crash can play on most players if it
starts to play before explorer crash. So, no problems with the avi files,
this is a pure window xp problem. I have runned SFC/SCANNOW 3 times and
updated my XP. For some reason both SP1 and SP2 was reinstalled or maybe just
updated but WHY SP1a ? as I already have SP2 ???? Also I had to make changes
to the register before Windows update worked. Automatic update didnt work.
Now it does.

Still having this problem. There are a lot of other files that cannot play
any longer, some ext are .asf .mkv .ogm these are all files I have been
able to play before.
Its explorer and WMplayer10 that cause the problems and they are both
reinstalled.

If I have a avi file, not converted, and thumbnails on, explorer will crash
as soon as I open that folder. With no thumbnails on, explorer crash as I
highlight the avi file to play it. If the player start before explorer
crashes, the avi file will play, else the player will also crash and no
player can be used before the winshell have been restarted (after closed down
from taskmanager). I must use ctrl-alt-del for every crash.
IF taskmanager is open then this happen also the taskmanager can stop
respond. Other programs continue without problems. But all programs around
moviefiles can crash at the same time, like the converter program, edit
program and actual player running. So if I convert or edit a total different
file (movie) then explorer crashes it can also crash the converter or editor.
(I have 1 GB RAM)

Maybe I must install some replacement for windows explorer and WMplayer as
it does not help to reinstall them? I can play these files by open them from
any player exept WMplayer but I usally rightclick on the moviefile to chose
player and this involve explorer. If I start the player first and then choose
the movie file it works without problems exept for WMplayer. I can also wash
all avi files from codec but it results in in very large files. Still all
cartoons like .asf .mkv .ogm will not play for some reason.

Thx for any help,

Bjorn
