Status Bar

In Word 2002, my Status Bar indicator for At and Ln are dim in normal view. That is, the status bar will not tell me how far down the page the insertion point (IP) is located or what vertical line the IP is on. It gives me this information in Print View though. I want to display it in normal view.

From Tools, Options, Show, I have checked the Status Bar box. If I do not check this box, the entire status bar disappears.

Any thoughts on how I can show At and Ln in normal view?

Hi, Prof,

When you're in normal view, go to Tools > Options > General and check the
box for "Background pagination". Word needs background pagination to be able
to calculate the cursor position for the status bar.

That box is checked and grayed out when you're in page layout view, but it
becomes active (and may be unchecked) when you're in normal view.
