Status bar randomly disappearing?

Is there an easy way (possibly a registry tweak) to force the status bar at
the bottom of Explorer windows to stay enabled?

I have the same problem. I am using I.E. 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 with 128-bit cipher strength and update versions: SP1. I am obviously in XP and I keep losing my status bar! I love having it and don't want it to go away
Is there a way to get it to come back

I select "Status Bar" and it appears and I close out of I.E. and go back in, it is gone! I get the same results when I restart of power off. It is frustrating.
