What "part" of MSN?

MSN Explorer (the "application" used to browse the web and access email
associated with MSN Premium accounts)?

The MSN or Windows Live Instant Messenger application?

MSN/Windows Live Mail?

Several versions of Windows allow applications to be started when
shortcuts to the application are included in the "Progrems\Start"
sub-folder of the listing that appears when you click "Explore" on the
context menu for the task bar's "start" button. Unless you have
configured your mouse for left hand operation you can access the context
menu by right clicking the "start" button.

The "Explore All Users" item on the context button can also contain
entries that cause programs to launch on startup. Again look in the
"Programs\Start" sub-folder.

Of the three instant messenger applications (Windows, MSN or Windows
Live) look for the option to disable launch on startup on the instant
messenger's Options function on the "Tools" menu. Also look in the
settings for Outlook Express for an option to start the Windows Instant
Messenger when Outlook Express starts. Note that the MSN/Windows/Live
IMs tend to reestablish their "launch on startup" provisions if you
don't use the IM application's "Options" dialog to disable that "service".

There's some opportunities for starting applications using Windows
registry entries, but it's a little dangerous to delete things from
there without specific instructions.
