How to see the complete link from IE?

E

Eric

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to see the complete link IE?
When I brower a web site and click any button, a connected link is showed
under the status bars section. Due to the limited space, I cannot see the
complete link, does anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve the link
information?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

In the address bar? Put the blinking cursor on the URL and use the right
arrow button to see the rest. Or, copy and paste it elsewhere.

On the status bar, which is at the bottom of IE.

The lower left-hand corner of an IE window is normally blank, but a URL
will appear on it when you place your mouse over a Web link. Is this
what you are talking about? In the event the URL is extremely long, just
right-click it and "Copy Shortcut" to the clipboard. The either paste it
into Notepad or try this:

Windows Key + R | (type) clipbrd | OK

Thank everyone very much for suggestions

Yes, but when I click the button, the URL will only flash for a second, and
I am not fast enough to drag the mouse right-click it and "Copy Shortcut" to
the clipboard.

It would be helpful to give us a link to this Web page. I don't see why
speed should be an issue.

While the mouse is over the link on the page, (not in the status bar), Right
Click | Copy Shortcut. Open Notepad, WordPad, Word or whatever and Paste.
There is your URL.

I do not click on the web link, but only click a button. I have checked
there is no way to copy the web - link from the button and status bars.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

If you click on the button and go to the Webpage, the same URL will be in
the Address Bar.

Put a link to the Webpage in this thread and tell me what button you want
the URL for.

Unfortunately, the URL does not change on Address Bars after I click on the
button.
Do you have any suggestions?

One more time:

Please post the link to this Web page so we can have a look at it.

My guess is this is an example of dynamic content. But I will need to
see the page!

You /do/ have a URL you can copy from the address bar for the Webpage
itself? Give it to us and tell us which button you are asking about.

There is the link, but it is busy at this moment

I would like to find the URL for US Dollar Index, once I get it then I can
insert this code into macro to load it into Excel Automatically.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, it's busy. I'll keep trying as long as I'm up.

Meanwhile, anything here that you could use as an alternative?

http://www.google.com/search?q=US+D...-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

Here is an example link.

http://freeserv.dukascopy.com/exp/e...val=10&DF=m/d/Y&Stock=507&endSym=win&split=tz

It returns a file of comma separated data (Q507_10_500.csv 115KB)

I didn't see an entry for USDX so picked one of the other lines instead (USD/EUR).

The way I did this, is installed a copy of Wireshark, and captured
the outgoing packet sent to dukascopy.com :) Piece of cake.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireshark

Wireshark captures packets as they enter and leave the computer. Requests
to web servers have some amount of human readable text, and so getting
the URL is easy.

I replied to a top-posted reply with signature, without fixing it all up.
The top poster's signature ensures the context will be lost.
Here is the essence of what the OP wants to do.

That web page has a script underneath it, to generate the necessary URL.
That means holding your mouse over the page, doesn't reveal the URL.
By using Wireshark, you can catch the URL as it is leaving the computer.

Create and merge this registry file to enable 'Show Full URL' in IE:

1. Copy below and paste into Notepad.

----------copy inside only----------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
"Show_FullURL"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_FullURL"="yes"

----------copy inside only----------

2. Save-as IE_ShowFullURL.reg (or any name + .reg)

3. Double-click or right-click and merge into the registry.
