status bar disappeared

I have just recently begun to use Win XP with IE6. When I
click a link and it opens into a new window, the status
bar at the bottom is no longer there. It's now just a
line at the bottom of the IE window. I've used IE 6
before with Win 2K, but never had this problem. Any ideas
what is up?

correction the problem occurs when i use the shortcut
keys "CTRL + N".

Basically, you need to enable Status Bar in Windows explorer also.
