Statistical symbols

T

Tanis

Hi all. My first post on these forums, so please be gentle. I am tryin
to insert various statistical symbols into a document. Like the symbol
for grand average, average of a set of data, aproximate standar
deviation, average range and grand average range. The grand average i
an X with a double bar over it and the approximate standard deviatio
is the normal standard deviation symbol with a caret over it. Th
range is a capital R with a single or double bar over it. I have looke
at the symbols in the symbol table but to no avail. Anyone have an
idea where I might find the little rascals. Oh, by the way, I am usin
Word 97 (at the moment)
Any shove in the right direction appreciated.

Thank you

Davi

The first place to look for any character that you think might exist as a
Unicode glyph is in the Arial Unicode MS font (using Insert | Symbol). You
may have to install this font. If you don't find it there, then (a) Google
for a font that contains the characters or (b) use an EQ \o (overstrike)
field to combine existing characters into the character you need.
