Static Screen Saver

B

Bruce Remick

I am using WinXP/Home/SP2 and run AVG and Ad Aware. After running into
freeze-up problems with my Norton NIS/Anti-virus and following their various
links to try to correct these problems, I finally uninstalled the thing out of
frustration and went with AVG. Since then, I have noticed slow-downs in just
about everything I do, especially when trying to bring up simple Word documents
from My Documents (up to two minutes to load/display; 20-30 seconds to close).
One specific problem that mystifies me is that my screen saver will appear when
it's supposed to ( a stock Windows thingy), but remains static. Checking my
control panel/display/screen saver window, it shows the one I selected in
motion. But it's frozen when it appears on my monitor.

I have no idea if this static screen saver is an effect of some larger problem
or an isolated "bug". Can anyone help?

Norton products do not un-install cleanly out of Windows. This is the main
reason that Symantec has developed enhanced product removal tools (found on
their web site.)
