I am using Windows XP Home version on my laptop that has 384 MB RAM. When I
bought it in 2003, it used to take about 1 minute to boot up. Now it takes
close to 10 minutes. I have checked the system for adware and viruses ...
system is clean.
I have a feeling the system is opening programs/applications that need not
be opened each time on startup. What can I do to reduce the start up time?

Thanks,
Zak

What programs are in your Startup group, and what is listed on the
Startup tab of msconfig?

Off the top of my head, I'd say 6, 23-28, 30.
21 looks up a bit iffy - i'd be checking thoroughly for malware and
useless OEM toys that just call back home every time you log-in.

Hello , 2 realshed may be for Real Player not neccessary .
8&9 are for Norton . Leave these selected .
18 ccap is for Norton "Auto Protect" Leave selected .
19 SNDMon is for Norton , leave selected .
If you have a realtime Spyware blocker , add this to startup .

All others really are not neccessary per personal preference .

Google search the rest and seek definitions and absolutely write
down all info . Try looking here > http://www.processlibrary.com/ type item
into the white box .
