Startup Slow on acquiring network

I am using Vista Premium.
When the system starts it loads quickly, but seems to
slow down while waiting to acquire network information
from my Linksys router WRT54G. This may be as long as 1-
2 minutes.

The network card is an Nvidia nforce.
I am have a Cisco VPN loading, but not activated until I
need it.

The router acts as a DHCP server, I am not using fixed
address.

Is there a way to speed up this portion of startup?
Is there a boot log program for Vista that will give
times to view startup problems?

My wireless connection was slow to reconnect from sleep and would sometimes
drop. The two things that made a difference were updated drivers and the SP1
beta. The PC now wakes up from sleep in less than 10 seconds with a fully
functional network connection. Not knowing how long your lease is, you may
also consider going to a static IP address.

Also, an interesting test would be to boot, disable your network card, then
enable your network card and see how long it takes to establish a connection.

It is normal. Actually 1-2 min seem to be fast.
Discovered a Web site that help me resolve some issues
with standby. Since the system resumes quickly I have
decided to use standby with hybrid hibernate.

For some reason I cannot disable the network adapter.
Everytime I try this it reactivates on booting. If I
perform a basic startup the system is boots up fast, but
is not very useful to me.

This is what the system is supposed to be doing. The other poster
essentially said that in shorthand.
