Startup programs for limited account cause repeated notices

I put a program shortcut in the startup folder of a
limited account. Now everytime that account logs in
Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware pops up a Windows
AntiSpyware Notice saying "A Startup program requires
your approval ... What would you like to do?" The options
are "Allow" or "Block" and there's a checkbox
for "Remember this action". I always choose "Allow" and
always have the checkbox checked, but the notice keeps
popping up at every login. This is in contrast to
administrative accounts, where AntiSpyware will
properly "remember this action" and pop up the notice
only once.

The current beta1 product does not work well with limited
accounts--it is only spec'd to work with a single
administrator account on a machine.

this is a limitation of the beta1 code--this will change
with beta2, but I can't predict what limitations that may
have.

Hopefully it will be available in beta 2, but initially, this is how
AntiSpywares original developer GIANT developed the product, to be a single
user application only.

From Steve Dodson:
You have a limited user account running the application looking for spyware
on all files and folders. This includes the administrator account which
limited users may not be able to access. So we have to approach this
carefully in order to remove the spyware from all locations, but also
preserve file and folder permissions and access.

In short, we are addressing this for a future release, but it involves some
major coding and testing.

Maybe the developers are getting too "giant" in their
expectations of what their program can do. The first
version worked very well for me. But I'm sure from your
end you could see endless need for improvement.
Since this second version came out, I have had my ATI
files removed - my own fault yes. I became very
complacent with the first version of Microsoft
AntiSpyware. But really - who knew that after a year the
programmers' would suddenly send down an update that
would remove core ATI files?
Post above lost their Wild Tangent drivers.
And my original post was about the browsui.dll which you
assure me has to do with my "limited" account and you
hope to clean that up. That's all very well but I am the
sole admin on this computer. In fact I am the only
user/account on this computer. I had no idea I
was "limited".
If this seems confusing it is only that I am becoming
very confused.

Not every answer here is perfect in it's details, nor is the product, I'm
afraid.

False positives are a problem for every antispyware product. There is
little industry information sharing, nor is there any set definition of what
constitutes spyware.

There is a whole class of products which Eric Howes has dubbed "rogue"
antispyware products one of whose common attributes is that they have a
fairly high rate of false positives which act as a goad to purchase.

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Microsoft Antispyware has historically been responsive to false positive
issues such as the one you experienced with your ATI Catalyst drivers--this
was fixed in the next definition cycle.

Wild Tangent is somewhat more complex--it definitely has spyware attributes,
as I recall.

I can't tell you the precise cause of the browsui.dll message you saw, but
I've seen it myself and am satisfied that it wasn't caused by malware in my
case, anyway.

Issues like these could be said to be part of the beta experience--this is a
beta product, after all--and we can reasonably expect a few warts. I don't
like using that as an excuse, but it is after all, the fact.
