I'm having trouble getting XP to load in the first place.
It repeatedly hangs on the computer's own splash screen
(it's an IBM ThinkPad), and Windows never comes up. My
only recourse is to forcibly power down and try again. It
works only about 1 in 5 times, which makes for a *long*
time to get going in the morning.

I have tried everything that is suggested in the
Microsoft databased to address this, with no luck. Has
anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions?

Hi Melissa,

This happens only the first thing in the morning? Or does it happen again if
you shut down for 5 minutes and try starting it?
